Each page gives an overview of a project in which The Aire Rivers Trust is involved.
If you would like to know more, or perhaps explore volunteering opportunities (nearly all of our work involves volunteers), you could either read the updates posted at the bottom of this page, or contact us using the link also towards the bottom.
We hope that you enjoy reading about our work and are inspired to support us by volunteering or maybe even financially via the link at the top right of the page.
Citizen Science, volunteers collecting information about our rivers, will help us to understand what problems our rivers face and to target remedial action more effectively.
We are developing a catchment-wide approach, whilst also running a series of more local exercises.
Agreeing where we need further information about our river - where are there problems that we don't sufficiently understand?
Designing locally relevant methods to investigate those problems.
Inviting members of the public to work with us in collecting and interpreting information about their local watercourse.
Working with volunteers to identify ways to resolve any problems we identify using their data.
We will be better able to understand the general and specific issues facing the river.
The data we collect will complement that of other organisations, such as the Environment Agency, Yorkshire Water and Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.
We can then target our improvement efforts on those sections where the greatest benefit might be realised.
Our funding bids will be supported by more/better information about the state of the river.
Our communiuty will be more involved and engaged with their local watercourse.
We could not do any of our work without the support of external funders. In this case, we would like to thank the organisations below for their support:
Project updates will appear here as they are published.
