Working With Schools
Our "Developing the Natural Aire" project is enabling the return of the king of fish, the Atlantic salmon, as a demonstration of how much our river has improved. As part of this project our River Defenders programme seeks to create the next generation of custodians for our natural environment.
Our work is free to schools in the Aire Valley (Leeds, Bradford and Craven areas). Whilst we are unable to deliver school visits at the moment we are keen to support schools in the learning about rivers.
Schools can borrow our interactive river table to explore how rivers shape our landscapes and our actions impact them. Pupils gain an in depth understanding of the Key Stage 2 Geography National Curriculum with hands on experiment.
Our expert staff can help support the Science National Curriculum with minibeast samples delivered from pollution monitoring along the river. Identify and count them in you classroom before we join you virtually to discover what they tell us about teh health of the river. We hope that we will be able to return to delivering field trips to the River Aire in the summer months.
If you have any questions about working with us on an educational project or you would like to make a booking for one of our resources, please do not hesitate to get in touch by filling in the form at the bottom of this page.
